“WHATCHA THINKING?”

Down. Depressed. Disenchanted. Distant. Delirious. Despondent. Disgusted. Nope, I am none of those things. Why? Because I just don’t allow it. I just don’t think it!

Now some of you may be thinking, that is crazy, insane, inane, and absolutely ludicrous—but it is true. “As a man (woman or child) thinketh, so is he (or she).” Proverbs 23:7 NLT

So whatcha thinking? It’s very true that your thoughts become your reality, your reality is your journey, and your journey is your life. So by the art of deductive reasoning – your thoughts are your life. So if your life is in a rut that means that your thoughts are in a rut. It’s time to get out of the rut—change your stinking thinking!

So, again I ask “whatcha thinking?” Now I can become really technical about this and offer scientific proof that you are not only what you eat but you are also what you think! Your human mind creates the world in which you live. Your mind is very powerful. Your thoughts do matter. What you think, influences how you feel and how you behave.

Your thoughts matter more than you could ever imagine! For many years, I worked within the New York City Department of Education. I met students of all calibers, IQ’s and socio-economic levels. I taught Special Ed, General Ed, Gifted and Talented and AP (Advance Placement) and College bound students. And believe it or not, they all had one thing in common–their achievement (or failure) was based upon self- perception. In other words, what they thought of themselves, made a difference. You see regardless of their intellectual ability, if they thought they were failures, they most certainly failed. Those who thought they were failures, acted out in class, cut class and ultimately began to act like failures. When they began to act like failures, it reinforced their belief that they must be a failure. Those who thought they could be successful, attended classes and did the work, they were successful.

Success is truly self-determined.

In my vernacular, failure is not an option. I know these days, that’s a popular colloquialism. Oh but it is so true. Look at it this way, failure is not an option, it is a state of mind! Many are familiar with the story of “The Little Engine That Could,” well it did because it believed it could. Although it is a children’s book, it has an adult concept—think it and you can do it!

Did you know that 90% of anything you choose to do is a direct result of how your mind is used? Henry Ford, the millionaire who revolutionized transportation with the invention of the automobile once said, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” Well said! It’s really, how you think. So, again I ask “whatcha thinking?”
